The Tang Soo Do Mi Guk Kwan Association, Inc., is an organization founded by Grandmaster Charles J. Ferraro. The Tang Soo Do Mi Guk Kwan system is a classical martial art concerned with scientific and martial theory, form and aesthetics. Tang Soo Do is a composite style influenced by the Northern Chinese arts, the Southern Chinese arts, and the Okinawan discipline of Karate.
The International Tang Soo Do Federation™ is a traditional martial arts organization with specific standards and goals designed to help each student maximize potential as an individual as well as a martial artist. It requires and maintains strict guidelines in the operation of each member school. All certified instructors are required to attend frequent evaluation tests to assure the instruction you receive is of the highest possible standard and within the guidelines of the International Tang Soo Do Federation™ And its technical advisory board.
The American Tang Soo Do Association was founded by Grandmaster Richard Byrne - 8th Dan - who is the President and Founder of the Association as well as Byrne's Tang Soo Do Karate Studios. He began his illustrious career in 1969 while stationed in the military in Korea. His training began with the study of Tang Soo Do at Osan Air Force Base. Not only is he a Master of the style Tang Soo Do, but also holds black belts in Shotokan and Tae Kwon Do.
The United States Soo Bahk Do (Tang Soo Do) Moo Duk Kwan Federation: The Federation's purpose is to prepare a home in the United States for a unified Moo Duk Kwan assembly. It must earn the right and the privilege of having many Masters, Dans and Gups, who study Soo Bahk Do, as its membership.
The World Dang Soo Do Union is an international Dang Soo Do Union created by president and founder Choeng Jae Nim Kim, Song Ki. Since many of Choeng Jae Nim Kim, Song Ki's former students have gone on to form many successful independent organizations, Choeng Jae Nim created the Union as an organization in which member associations could keep their indepenency, yet interact and support the growth of traditional Dang Soo Do worldwide. In uniting our intellects we can make tradtional Dang Soo Do an even more powerful force among Martial arts.
